19th Engineer Battalion
Since November 2013, more than 500 Soldiers from the 19th Engineer Battalion have served as the Army Central Command rotational engineer battalion headquartered at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. On Sunday the battalion officially passed the reins over to the 528th Engineer Battalion of the Louisiana National Guard during the Transfer of Author-ity ceremony at the camp’s event tent.
The 19th Engineer Battalion has stayed busy during the deploy-ment, partnering with Kuwaiti
engineering units and completing more than $5 million worth of construction projects at locations across Southwest Asia.
Presiding over the ceremony, Col. Christopher Eubank, Area Support Group-Kuwait commander, expressed his gratitude for the work the 19th Engineer Battalion has done in Kuwait.
“Today is a great day in that we are able to say farewell to one great unit, the 19th Engineer Battalion, and wish them safe travels as they reunite with the families back home after a job well done,” he said.
Lt. Col. John Lloyd, the 19th Engineer Battalion commander, thanked ASG-KU for its support, wished the 528th Engineer Battalion good luck, and recognized all the Soldiers of the 19th Engineer Battalion for a job well done.
Editor's Note: The first of three cere-monies welcoming home 19th Engineer Battalion Soldiers will take place at the new 19th Engineer Battalion Complex today at 7 p.m. (Time and dates are subject to change. Check the Fort Knox website for specifics). The general public is invited to attend.
