Patriot Day ceremony to feature 9/11 fire truck
Fort Knox Public Affairs Office
The fire truck damaged by the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon will be unveiled during Fort Knox’s Sept. 11 Patriot Day ceremony as the centerpiece for one of the Patton Museum’s new exhibits about leadership.
The public is invited to the event, which is scheduled to begin at 8:15 a.m. in front of the museum located at 4554 Fayette Ave.
The vehicle will be displayed in its damaged condition and will be one of only two 9/11 fire trucks on display in museums. The wreckage of the truck also served as a flagpole for the first flag flown at the Pentagon after the attack. The three firefighters who served on the truck during 9/11 will be at the ceremony and available to speak with attendees following the event.
