Kentucky Lt. Gov. Hampton to speak at Friday observance
The Fort Knox Women’s History month observance will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Waybur Theater and hosted by U.S. Army Cadet Command Deputy Commander Col. Robert Bennett. Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton will be the keynote speaker. The Frazier History Museum also will deliver a performance about the story of Sybil Ludington—a girl who rode her horse 40 miles at night to alert American volunteer militia of British troops raiding and burning another town. This year’s WHM theme is “Honoring Trailblazing Women in Labor and Business.”
Where mission permits, supervisors are encouraged to approve the attendance of their employees. When permission is granted to attend, Waybur Theater will be considered the employee’s place of duty. No leave will be charged for that time.
