In April the national celebrates Earth Day, the perfect time to learn to care for the Earth now, so that it will sustain future generations.
This year Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will sponsor its fourth annual earth fair today on the Elizabethtown campus. Everyone is invited to celebrate our Earth and learn more about sustainable practices at the Earth Fair. All activities and events are free. Everything will be centered in the Regional Postsecondary Center, where visitors will find directions to specific activities.
Today from noon-4 p.m., ECTC students and local vendors will exhibit products, services, technologies, studies and practices designed to support a sustainable lifestyle and environment. Educational and entertaining films addressing various aspects of sustainability will be shown Thursday in room 212 of the RPC.
The schedule for the films is as follows:
10:30 a.m. – Plastic Paradise
Noon – The Anthropocene: Where on Earth are we going?
1:45 p.m. – Baggit
3 p.m. – Abrupt Climate Change – The Hard Truth
The ECTC Guitar Club will perform in the foyer of the RPC at 1:15 p.m.
Saturday – “Celebration of Science” – 2-4 p.m. at Freeman Lake Park, Searle Pavilion. This event is co-hosted by ECTC, Heartland Progressive Alliance and Western Kentucky University and is free and open to the public. It is a family-friendly event that will include experiments, rock painting, science demonstrations and much more. Exciting door prizes include three ECTC Summer Kid’s College Scholarships for programs including robotics, forensic science, and mad scientist and strange matter.
