Young adult author Brigid Kemmerer discusses and signs “Letters to the Lost” 6 p.m. today.

“Letters to the Lost” follows Juliet Young as she writes letters to her mother after her untimely death and leaves them at her grave. However, her letters don’t remain unanswered.

Declan Murphy, a rough character who has a tendency to get into trouble, finds the letters while fulfilling his court ordered community service cleaning the cemetery and replies. The two began a correspondence believing they are complete strangers, opening up to one another and sharing their deepest thought, feelings and emotions.

Life throws a wrench in their relationship as they soon have to face their secret writing life head on. The shifting sands of their connection force them to face some truths that might just tear their relationship apart.

Kemmerer is best known for her new adult paranormal romance mystery, “Thicker than Water,” and the supernatural and paranormal YALSA nominated Elemental series consisting of five novels and three e-novellas.

Kemmerer’s work has been celebrated by sources as varied as School Library Journal and Kirkus Reviews which praises Kemmerer and “Storm” (Elemental Book 1) saying it is “a refreshingly human paranormal romance...read fast and keep that heart rate up.”

Kemmerer lives in the Baltimore/Annapolis area with her husband and four sons.

Copies of “Letters to the Lost” will be available for purchase at the event.
