Sadowski Center was full of fun when Families gathered for the Let’s Move Celebration Sunday afternoon. The event was held as part of the annual Month of the Military Child observance in April.
At 1:30 p.m., kids and their parents gathered in the middle of the skating rink to watch “The Nutty Scientist” perform science experiments. Additional games and experiments were available after the show, as well as arts and crafts. Bouncy houses, obstacle courses, basketball and baseball games and an inflatable slide provided outdoor fun for those attending.
A total of 700 people attended the Let’s Move Celebration, said Rayceil Oggs, director of Child, Youth and School Services on Fort Knox.
“The Army designated a month for military children because the Army recognizes that…they are very resilient,” Oggs said.
The Department of Defense designated Month of the Military Child in 1986, and Fort Knox has celebrated every year since then, Oggs said. This is the first year the event was held at Sadowski.
