ECTC men’s, women’s soccer tryouts

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s men’s and women’s soccer teams are holding tryouts for interested players who will be ECTC students in the fall. Tryouts are from 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 5 for the men’s team and 7 p.m. Aug. 5 for the women’s team. All tryouts are at Nicholas Field in Elizabethtown.

Mini sports programs

The Fort Knox Youth Sports posted its mini sports for children ages 3-5. Mini sports is an instructional program to introduce the basic fundamental of sports. Cost is $25 for six sessions which includes Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks.

Basketball is from Aug. 15-31; flag football is from Sept. 5- Sept 21.; soccer is from Sept. 26- Oct. 19 and T-ball is from Oct. 24-Nov. 9. All players must be Family members of active duty, retired military or family members of civilian workforce including contractors on Fort Knox. At time of registration youth must have a current sports specific physical on file.

Referees, scorekeepers needed

The Fort Knox Official Asso-ciation is seeking basketball, football umpires/referees for the upcoming year. Scorekeep-ers are needed for each sport.

FKYS coed volleyball

Fort Knox Youth Sports has its volleyball registration from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. through Aug. 4 at Central Registration office, Bldg. 1384, Chaffee Avenue. The cost for volleyball is $45. Volleyball is available for fourth-sixth grade and seventh-12th grade.

The season will run from Aug. 5-Oct. 31.

Youth sports scholarships are available for families who qualify for financial assistance. Participants will receive a 15-percent multiple child discount for each additional youth participating in the same sport.

At time of registration youth must have a valid sports physical that is valid on file.

Soccer referees needed

Fort Knox Youth Sports and the Fort Knox Officials Associ-ation are in need of soccer referees for its upcoming season. To become a certified referee, individuals must be at least 12 years old. If interested, register online at www.kyreferee.gameofficials.net. The cost is $65.

FKYS Tackle Football Registration

Fort Knox Youth Sports has its tackle football registration through Aug. 4 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Central Registration office (Bldg. 1384, Chaffee Avenue). Tackle football fee will be $65. CFC contributions pay up to $15 reducing fee to $50. Tackle football ages 9-10 (born Aug. 1, 2006-July 31, 2008) and tackle football ages 11–13 (born Aug. 1, 2003-July 31, 2006). Thirteen years old can play football as long as they don’t turn 14 during season.
