Author Al Conetto comes to Barr Memorial Library

Army veteran will sign copies of ‘personal account’ novel on Vietnam War

Author Al Conetto will visit Fort Knox’s Barr Memorial Library at noon April 9 as part of the Authors at Your Library program.

While there, Conetto will sign The Hump: The 1st Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry, in the First Major Battle of the Vietnam War. This memoir draws upon his and other Soldiers’ personal experiences, as well as official Army documents pertaining to the war. The book details the history of the battle, the reasons behind it, and the author’s resulting post-traumatic stress disorder. It concludes with Conetto’s eventual return to Vietnam in the 1990s.

Conetto served in the Army five years and spent 17 months in Vietnam. He is now retired and lives in Walla Walla, Washington.

The event is free and open to the public.
