Fort Knox has just realized a major milestone, as this year marks the installation’s centennial.

In recognition of 100 years of Camp/Fort Knox, here is what The Gold Standard readership can expect in newspaper editions this year:

A weekly section on page A3 titled “Fort Knox Rediscovered,” highlighting interesting historical moments and facts related to Fort Knox. The content will be presented in chronological order throughout the year with the aim to give readers a sense of “walking through time.”

A monthly article featuring major aspects in Fort Knox history. Such story topics will include “the land before Fort Knox” and “Fort Knox during WWII.”

A weekly article previously run in the Fort Knox newspaper or in the former On Post magazine. The articles will be run as is and feature historically significant or interesting content.

A centennial special edition on Aug. 16.

Announcements on and coverage of centennial activities.

The newspaper is excited about partnering with cultural resources specialists, historians, current and former Fort Knox Soldiers and employees as well as community members in an effort to rediscover Fort Knox and educate the community on the post’s storied history. It’s a proud and relevant history comprised of remarkable people, organizations and a strong, resilient and supportive community.
