FORUM - New Drop Off Times

-A A +A
By CAPT. ALISA FISHER

In response to patient feedback, the Binter Street Pharmacy is making some changes to the workflow in order to improve the patient experience.

Currently, patients who wish to drop off a prescription for same day pick up must take a ticket and wait to be called to a window. From that point the technician reviews the prescriptions with the patient, enters the prescriptions into the computer, and determines when the prescription will be available for pickup. Depending on the volume of patients in the waiting area, this can result in a somewhat lengthy wait time just to drop off a prescription.

The good news is starting March 20 Binter Street Pharmacy will eliminate this step for all prescription drop offs. Patients who wish to return to pick up their new prescriptions at a later point in time will not be required to take a ticket and wait.

Patients will simply complete a “Drop-Off Form,” place the completed forms into the envelope provided along with hard copy prescriptions—if applicable—and then insert them through the door slot near window six. It is important to provide a working contact number in the event there are problems with prescription. The drop offs will be processed according to the following schedule:

Drop-off time Pickup time

8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Time of drop-off plus

one hour and 30 minutes

4-6 p.m. Next day after 10 a.m.

For example, a drop off inserted into the door slot at 10:45 a.m., would be ready for pickup at 12:15 p.m.

When patients return, their prescriptions will be waiting on the pickup side of the pharmacy at windows six through 10.

This change will streamline
the drop-off process and reduce the total number of patients waiting in the lobby. Having only one ticket option reduces confusion and will ensure patients who wish to wait for their prescription to be filled at the window, get processed in a more expedient fashion. We thank our patients for their service and appreciate their feedback, which was the inspiration for this change. n
