Get muddy and ‘grassy’ at the 10th annual Bernheim CONNECT celebration Aug. 18

Summer celebration returns with great music, food, and a special art sculpture performance

Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest is celebrating its 10th anniversary of CONNECT – an annual celebration of summer – Aug. 18 from 6:31 to 10:31 p.m.

During CONNECT, Lake Nevin in Clermont, Kentucky, will come alive with musical performances, spontaneous art displays and hands-on experiences for adults and families.

To mark the anniversary, Bernheim welcomes the Grass Men. Visiting Artist Ashley Peevor constructs and grows these Grass Men – living costumes which are part-sculpture, part-performance, which involve carefully crafted living costumes made from grass, flowers and other flora.

In addition to the amazing living art, CONNECT also features the return of the mud play zone for visitors who want to get “down and dirty.”

Guests planning to get muddy are encouraged to wear their favorite play clothes and bring a towel. Food truck favorites, Louisville craft beer and local wines add flavor to Bernheim’s premiere evening event.

Musical performances this year include Adam & Sarah of the indie rock band Murder by Death, the wild antics of Bill “Sauce Boss” Wharton, who will be cooking gumbo while singing the blues, and Juanita, Louisville’s long running celebration of garage rock.

The cost of CONNECT is $5 per person. Children 2 and under enter free. For more information, call (502)-955-8512.
