AMV mishap claims
one Soldier’s life

A specialist assigned to the Florida Army National Guard died in an Army Motor Vehicle mishap in Sebring, Florida, Jan. 19. The Soldier’s unit was conducting a vehicle convoy from the Miramar Readiness Center to Avon Park Bombing Range when three M1120 LHS trucks were involved in a chain-reaction crash. Five other Soldiers were evacuated to local hospitals.

A first lieutenant and a chief warrant officer 2 assigned to 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado, died in an AH-64E mishap at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California, Jan. 20 at 12:17 a.m. local. The crew was conducting a training flight under night vision systems in support of rotational training when their aircraft crashed.

Parachuting mishap claims one Soldier’s life

A master sergeant assigned to U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Virginia, died in a parachuting mishap in Eloy, Arizona, Jan. 24. The Soldier’s parachute reportedly failed to fully deploy and he struck the ground.

PMV-4 mishap claims
one Soldier’s life

A captain assigned to U.S. Army Europe at Clay Kaserne died Jan. 24 following a PMV-4 mishap in Wiesbaden, Germany. The Soldier was traveling on a highway in a borrowed subcompact vehicle in light rain conditions when he reportedly lost control and was struck by a bus traveling the same direction. The Soldier was evacuated to a hospital but passed away from his injuries.

A specialist assigned to the Wisconsin Army National Guard died in a PMV-4 mishap Feb. 3 near Westby, Wisconsin. The Soldier was on his way home from his drill location when his vehicle slid across the centerline on a right-hand curve in wet road conditions and collided with an approaching vehicle. n
