Kentucky State Parks ready to celebrate the Fourth of July

It’s time to break out the red, white and blue
at Kentucky State Parks! Enjoy Fourth of July activities at a Kentucky State Park this year. They include fireworks displays, entertainment and more.

Some parks are having weekend events, while others are hosting events on July 4.

Barren River Lake State Resort Park, Lucas

Fourth of July Celebration, July 4

Enjoy a day of exciting activities and an evening of incredible Fireworks on the beach. 270-646-2151.

Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park, Buckhorn

4th of July Fireworks, July 4

Enjoy a 4th of July buffet at Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park. The menu will feature barbecued ribs, baked chicken, catfish, vegetables and a dessert bar. The price is $14.50 for adults, $7 for children ages 6-12 and free for ages 5 and under (Does not include beverage, tax and tip). Kenlake State Resort Park, Aurora

Independence Celebration, June 30

Join Kenlake Saturday for an Independence Celebration. Music starts at 6 p.m. with the Sullivan 3 playing your
favorite rock classics at the “old beach” area. A fireworks display begins at dark. Limited concessions will be available. Bring lawn chairs and blankets but no glass bottles. Free admission. Pets must be on a leash. 270-474-2211.

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, Calvert City

Concert and Fireworks, June 30

Visit Kentucky Dam Village for the best fireworks extravaganza over Kentucky Lake. The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with a free rock concert by returning favorites Adam and the H-Bombs. At dark, the fireworks show will begin. Food concessions will be available. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket. Fireworks sponsored by Kentucky Dam Marina. Lake Barkley State Resort Park, Cadiz

Fireworks Show, July 4

Lake Barkley State Resort Park will present a free fireworks show on July 4 at the beach sponsored by the Friends of Lake Barkley. Donations will be accepted. Vendors will be selling food at this event. For information, call 270-924-1131 or email nick.edmonds@ky.gov

Independence Day Fireworks presented by Newcomb Oil, July 4

It’s Stephen Foster’s birthday. Join the J. Dan Talbott Amphitheater, home of the Stephen Foster Story, on July 4, to commemorate the 192nd anniversary of Stephen Foster’s birth and celebrate our nation’s Independence Day. Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, Dawson Springs

Independence Day Beach Blast, June 30-July 1

Lots of fun family friendly activities will be held at the Pennyrile Forest beach all day long. Tie-dye t-shirts, music, and a beach volleyball tournament. The concession stand will be selling family friendly foods. 270-797-3421.

Rumble Over the Rough, June 30

The Friends of Rough River bring one of the area’s most exciting fireworks shows to Rough River every Independence Day holiday. This event, funded by local donations, is one of the highlights of the year. Fireworks start at dusk, but come early and enjoy food and activities. 270-257-2311. n
