Two Knox Hills’ residents have been selected as recipients of the 2017 WinningEdge Scholarship sponsored by WinnCompanies.

Shannon Huth and Madison Swingholm, were among 46 national winners of the scholarship awarded annually by WinnCompanies, the national property management firm that serves Knox Hills.

Created in 2012, the WinningEdge Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to residents who are high school and GED graduates, and pursuing studies at a post-secondary educational institution. Recipients are chosen based on academic performance, character and proficiency in their chosen field of study.

Shannon Huth, 41, plans to apply his scholarship toward his second year at Elizabeth Community and Technical College in Elizabethtown where he is pursuing a welding certificate.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to become a college graduate,” said Shannon. “This scholarship will help greatly to continue furthering my education in welding. I am so excited and feeling truly blessed to have received such an honor out of so many great and deserving candidates.”

Madison Swingholm, 18, a graduate of Fort Knox High School,
will apply her scholarship toward her freshman year at the University of Louisville, where she will study political science, with a minor in psychology, with plans to attend law school.

“I am beyond thankful to have been chosen for this scholarship,” said Madison. “Not only does it help relieve financial burden from my Family, but it allows me to focus on pursuing an education.”

A total of $45,500 was awarded to WinnCompanies residents nationwide through the WinningEdge Scholarship Program this year. Of the 46 recipients, 22 are residents of military communities managed by WinnCompanies.
